In recent years, there has been an increase in intentional fraud and misconduct related to organic products in the United States. In response to this trend, in January 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the final rule for the Strengthening Organic Enforcement (SOE) under the National Organic Program (NOP).

As a result, all businesses involved in the production or handling of organic agricultural products, including those sold in the U.S., are required to obtain certification. Therefore, if you plan to sell organic matcha within the U.S., you should first obtain USDA Organic certification.
